In an article by The Real Deal, detailing the connection that when the market gets tough, it tends to lead to more developers being taken to court by brokerages. The slower paced market has led to brokerage’s closing or having their contracts being terminated with little to notice or without cause. The firms then sue seeking monetary compensation for unfair practices or unpaid fees. When asked for his comment, Terrence A. Oved, Esq. stated that, “In a situation like that, a lawsuit can be the way for the brokerage to save face”.
